"No angry," she whispered, "Adek young, no understand. Now no kakak, he more sad." I really felt myself lucky to someone like Wanda around; she seems to understand me and know what I want. I held on to her small hands as I turned my face sideways, "Thank you sayang." I said.

The following morning, I did exactly as I promised; I just refused to wake up. The alarm vent off as usual but I kept hammering the “snooze” button. I wondered if
Adek could make it on time? But I dismissed that thought as soon as it popped into my head. He has to be taught a lesson. Had my wife still be alive, she would have none of it and insisted that I fetched
Adek no matter how angry he had made me. But my wife was no longer around, is she? Sorry to say this but he has just lost his guardian angel.
Adek has to be taught a good lesson!
Satisfied with my reasoning, I drifted back to sleep. Waking up only much later. I felt better rested; usually I had to wake up so much earlier just to fetch
Adek to school and for what? In the end, my “sacrifice” was neither appreciated nor recognised. Perhaps this would be a good “wake up call” for my son, let him learn the consequence of his actions.
The flat was unusually quiet as I got ready for work. Then my thoughts wondered towards Wanda. No matter what punishment I wanted to dish out to
Adek, she was the innocent party here. Yet, in every confrontation, there has to be some collateral damage.
I got dressed, picked up my car and drove to work.
